Visiting Hours Visiting hours are listed below. For exceptional circumstances, special arrangements may be made with the nursing staff.
General Medical/Surgical Units 11 a.m.- 8 p.m.
Maternal-Child Health Services (No children under the age of 14) 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Pediatric Unit Parents and grandparents may visit at any time. Overnight accommodations for one parent are available.
Inpatient Psychiatric Unit 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. Visitors must call 496-6795 to be escorted to the unit. (Adolescents - Parents and Guardians only)
Intensive and Care Unit (ICU) Immediate family only 15 minutes every hour except 3 p.m. Hours may be limited or extended at the discretion of the nurse based on patient needs. A special visitor's lounge is adjacent to our ICU. No children under the age of 14 are allowed. Only 2 visitors at a time. A telephone is placed outside of the unit to call for entry.
Cafeteria & Vending Machines Your visitors are welcome to use the hospital cafeteria on the ground floor for coffee, beverages, snacks, and candy during the day and evening. Trays should not be taken to other areas in the hospital. Vending machines are also located in the hospital cafeteria for your convenience.
Lunchtime Hours: Weekdays, 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Weekends, 12:30 p.m.-1:00 p.m. Dinner Hours, 5:00-6:30 p.m.
ATM - Automatic Teller Machine There is a 24-hour automated teller machine from Torrington Savings Bank available on the ground level adjacent to the cafeteria. The machine accepts Visa, MasterCard, and cards from the NYCE, Cirrus, and Plus banking systems.
Gift Shop The Hospital's full service Auxiliary run gift shop is located to the right of the main entrance lobby. The shop provides fresh flowers, magazines, cards, candy, and a large selection of gifts. Flower delivery is available to hospital floors. All proceeds benefit CHH programs and services.
Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Weekends 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Chapel The Hospital's Sanctuary is open at all times for prayer and mediation to people of all faiths and is located on the main floor of the hospital, to the left of the main entrance lobby.
Smoking As a leader in providing and increasing the health and well-being of the communities it serves, CHH and its off-site service providers are completely “Tobacco and Smoke Free” environments. The policy eliminates smoking and the use of tobacco products at all Charlotte Hungerford Hospital buildings, entrances, outdoor grounds, and parking areas on its campus and at all off-site properties and leased buildings.
Cellular/Mobile/Digital Phones The use of cellular phones is prohibited within the hospital as they may cause certain critical equipment to malfunction. Please step outside the building for usage.
Fire Drills The hospital holds periodic fire drills to ensure the safety of all patients, visitors and staff. Please remain in your room if you hear a fire alarm. In the event of an actual fire, hospital staff will assist you in vacating the building.
Wireless Internet Connection Free wireless internet connection is available in hospital rooms and main building waiting rooms.
