The Crisis Intervention Services (CIS) are located within our Emergency Department at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH).
Our team of crisis clinicians complete evaluations and assessments for adults, adolescents and children experiencing psychiatric emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our unit has two separate areas based on acuity and assessed needs. One section has 10 crisis beds for individuals who are medically cleared and are assessed to be more acute, and the second section has 3 Flex beds for individuals that are minors, geriatric or medically compromised. A psychiatrist is on call at all times for staff consult, and psychiatric disposition and referrals are provided before discharge.
