Kick the Smoking Habit for Free with CHH in 2020

December 02, 2019

Make 2020 your year to kick the smoking habit. Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) will be offering its popular Freedom from Smoking cessation program in Torrington as part of ongoing efforts to help smokers kick the habit and live smoke-free.

The free program features discussion and skill sessions led by trained, certified American Cancer Society facilitators who understand the motivations and rationalizations of smoking, and use a positive behavior change approach that teaches people how to become permanent non-smokers. Participants attend eight interactive classes with Quit Day midway through the session.

The program will be offered on Wednesdays at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital LAB Conference Room, 2nd FL, 540 Litchfield Street in Torrington, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 8 for seven consecutive weeks.

“In this step-by step program, participants will receive the personal attention they need to help them quit smoking and transition to a healthier, smoke-free lifestyle through education, relaxation techniques, and methods of preventing weight gain.” says Sandy Markus, long time smoking program facilitator.

According to the American Cancer Society, tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the U.S., yet millions of Americans still smoke. For more information about smoking and its dangers, visit the American Cancer Society website here.

As a special incentive, the $75  fee for the Freedom from Smoking cessation program will be waived for all participants. Call 860.496.6538 to register or receive more information. Space is limited.
