CHH Receives $1,000 Grant from Torrington Big Y to Support Pink Rose Fund

May 05, 2021

Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) was pleased to accept a $1,000 donation recently from Torrington Big Y World Class Market to benefit the Hospital’s Pink Rose Fund. The donation is a portion of Big Y’s 14th Annual Partners of Hope Campaign which has given over $60,000 to CHH since 2011.

The money is raised at Big Y stores throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts to distribute to individual communities and charities in the communities they serve for breast cancer related screenings, education and treatment.

CHH Breast Health Nurse Navigator Tammy Rouleau and CHH Early Detection Program Outreach Coordinators Tasha Laviera and Rosa Hilario were presented with the check from Big Y Torrington Store Director Jim Martin and Employee Services Representative Carla Russo to be used in their efforts to assist local women diagnosed with breast cancer.  (In the photo above, Martin, left,  and Employee Services Representative Carla Russo, right, with Rouleau, Laviera and Hilario.)

“This generous gift is a much needed contribution to this critical fund for women in northwest Connecticut. We are extremely grateful for the support Big Y has provided to help local women facing the challenges of breast cancer.” said Rouleau.

Since 1996, the Pink Rose Fund has provided women in northwest Connecticut with comprehensive, coordinated access to breast cancer and women’s health services, programs and screenings. In addition, a certified R.N. Nurse Navigator provides clinical expertise and guides patients through diagnosis, treatment and follow-up across the healthcare continuum.

“Thank you for all you do for awareness, research, and support of Breast Cancer. We know that both our employees and our customers appreciate your efforts.” said Martin.
