Adult DAY Dual-Diagnosis Intensive Outpatient Program

The Adult DAY Dual-Diagnosis Intensive Outpatient Program (DDIOP) at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) provides a confidential, highly structured, intensive intermediate level of care between inpatient and outpatient substance use treatment for adults. The treatment philosophy of the program is to develop individual treatment plans for each member, treating mental health and substance use issues simultaneously. The focus of the substance use counseling programs is group therapy utilizing a variety of treatment techniques including motivational enhancement, stages of change, drug screening, relapse prevention, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

The program counselors assist adults to achieve many objectives during treatment which include:

  • Assist to decrease substance abuse and presenting psychiatric, behavioral, and emotional symptoms.
  • Assist substance abuse treatment program members in developing successful coping and stress management skills
  • Provide medication management as warranted
  • Help program members in recognizing and communicating feelings in constructive and recovery focused ways

Adult EVENING Dual Diagnosis Intensive Outpatient Program

The Adult EVENING Dual-Diagnosis Intensive Outpatient Program (DDIOP) at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) provides a conveniently scheduled program for adults with co-occurring mental health and addiction disorders. This program is ideal for those individuals who work during the day or attend college, as it provides a confidential, highly structured program for adults in which psychiatric and/or substance dependence symptoms are impeding their ability to function interpersonally and professionally.

The focus of the program is group therapy, utilizing a variety of treatment techniques including integrated treatment for co-occurring disorders, stages of change, relapse prevention, psychotherapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy.

The treatment philosophy of the dual diagnosis program is to develop individual treatment plans for each member treating mental health and substance abuse disorders simultaneously. The effective components of recovery program focuses on best evidence-based practices in care reflecting the interest, value needs and choices of the individuals we serve.

Adult DAY Dual Recovery Group

The Adult DAY Dual Recovery Group at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) is a skill based group with a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Enhancement and Mindfulness approach designed to assist those struggling with symptoms related to their Dual Diagnosis in developing skills to recognize and cope with presenting symptoms.

Adult EVENING Relapse Prevention Group

The Adult EVENING Relapse Prevention Group at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) teaches people strategies that will maintain the wellness skills they’ve learned while in treatment. This program is conveniently scheduled once a week for a 90 minute session in the evening, providing a structured learning environment where participants are taught strategic planning that focuses on maintaining effective coping skills.

The program is for adults who have both a mental health issue and a substance abuse disorder, more commonly known as co-occurring disorders or dual diagnosis disorder. The treatment philosophy for the relapse prevention program is developed on an individualized basis as it relates to their personalized treatment plan.

The plan is patient focused, specific to the needs of that particular individual. The group focus provides treatment for the dual diagnosis adults as to the stages of change, relapse prevention, psychotherapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
