The Adult Partial Hospital Program (PHP) at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) provides comprehensive behavioral health services to adults ages 18 or older and their families based on individual need and stage of recovery.
The program provides an intensive environment five days a week for people in the process of recovery from recent and severe mental health and co-occurring disorders. The primary goal is to minimize symptoms and optimize an individual’s overall level of functioning as prevention to hospitalization or re-hospitalization.
PHP develops each person’s treatment plan to his or her individual needs. The focus is on group therapy with a variety of treatment interventions which include, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), motivational enhancement, medication evaluation, and relapse prevention. Part of what makes PHP an important tool in the recovery of our patients is that it can provide structure & stability during a very turbulent time in their lives. Group rules and norms provide a safe and secure place for healing.
Our goals to manage psychiatric, behavioral, emotional, and substance use symptoms include:
- Assist in developing successful coping and stress management skills
- Provide medication evaluation as needed
- Assist in the transition from residential or inpatient facility to the community
- Help in developing communication, leisure, and relational skills to improve overall quality of life and functioning
