Free Memory Screenings Oct. 9 in New Hartford
October 02, 2019
Hartford HealthCare’s Center for Healthy Aging will conduct free memory screenings Oct. 9, 2019 from 1-3 pm at the New Hartford Senior Center, 530 Main Street, 3rd Floor, in New Hartford.
The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America suggests memory screenings for people concerned about memory loss or experiencing warning signs of dementia, whose family and friends have noticed changes in them, who believe they are at risk due to a family history of dementia or who want to see how their memory is now and for future comparisons. Warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease include forgetting people’s names and events, asking repetitive questions, loss of verbal or written skills, confusion and personality changes.
Confidential memory screenings average 10-15 minutes and consist of questions and tasks to assess memory. They do not diagnose any illness, but can indicate whether someone should follow up with a full medical exam. Jennifer Labrie, resource coordinator with the Center for Healthy Aging, will perform the screenings. Hartford HealthCare Center for Healthy Aging is sponsoring.
Spaces are limited and appointments are required. Call Diane Barrett at 860.379.3980 to schedule an appointment.
