CHH Auxiliary’s February Artist of the Month Now Showing
February 04, 2020
The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) Auxiliary is featuring the artwork of Linda Sardilli now through early March in the hospital’s main lobby hallway at 540 Litchfield Street in Torrington.
The public is invited to view and buy the works during regular visiting hours as part of the Auxiliary’s ongoing Artist of the Month program. A portion of the proceeds from sales of the artwork support the CHH Auxiliary and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
Born in Vermont, Linda Sardilli developed a love of drawing and painting beautiful landscapes, vintage barns and quiet corners. After moving to Connecticut as a teenager, art continued to be Linda’s passion.
On her first day of college, Sardilli was emotionally moved when she viewed Andrew Wyeth’s famous “Christina’s World” in her art history book. Wyeth’s works have a profound influence on Linda’s photographic style as well. She felt a connection with Wyeth’s creative mind, desire to tell a story and his need to communicate that even the simplest scenes give birth to immeasurable worth.
Sardilli tries to create a Cinderella-like story in each of her photographs. Through her art, she enjoys telling stories that create interest and form an intimate bond with the viewer.
“Art is my passion,” she says. “Photography is my vehicle.”
Sardilli has won several Scholastic Art awards and her work has been exhibited at Trinity College and the University of Hartford.
The Auxiliary’s Artist of the Month program has been featuring paintings, photographs, and artwork each month from local artists for over 25 years. The 200-plus member supporters assist in raising money for the hospital through dues, donations, volunteering at the gift shop and a variety of events including an annual fashion show.
