Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Nationally Recognized for High-Quality Stroke Care
July 16, 2024
Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) has received the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Gold Plus Award, a quality achievement award for its commitment to ensuring high-quality stroke care.
Get With The Guidelines® leverages the expertise of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association to work for hospitals nationwide, helping ensure patient care is aligned with the latest research- and evidence-based guidelines.
In addition to the Gold Plus Award, CHH has also been recognized with the American Heart Association’s Target: StrokeSM Elite Honor Roll for reducing the time between patient arrival and thrombolytic therapy, and Target: Type 2 Diabetes™ Honor Roll for delivering up-to-date care for patients with Type 2 diabetes, who might be at higher risk for complications from stroke.
“These honors are a reflection of our team’s dedication to upholding the highest standards in stroke care, from the moment patients arrive at our hospital to their ongoing recovery,” said Bimal Patel, president of CHH and senior vice president of Hartford HealthCare. “We are grateful for these acknowledgments and remain dedicated to providing outstanding care and improving outcomes for those we serve.”
Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke is an in-hospital program designed to improve stroke care by promoting consistent adherence to guidelines, which can minimize the long-term effects of a stroke and even prevent death.
Each year, program participants qualify for the award by demonstrating how their organization has committed to providing quality care for stroke patients. In addition to following treatment guidelines, Get With The Guidelines® participants also educate patients to help them manage their health and recovery at home.
