Inspire Therapy for Sleep Apnea
For patients diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), Inspire Therapy may be a viable treatment option. Performed by Ari Namon, MD, this minimally invasive, implantable neuro-stimulator continuously monitors breathing during sleep and delivers mild stimulation to keep key airway muscles open, based on the patient's breathing pattern. The system is fully implanted in an outpatient procedure.
You may be a candidate for Inspire Therapy if you:
- Have moderate to severe OSA
- Are unable to tolerate or benefit from CPAP
- Are not significantly overweight
- Are over the age of 22

Frank A. Luzzi, MD is a board certified Otolaryngologist Head and Neck Surgeon. Treating adult and pediatric patients. He received his Otolaryngology and surgery training at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Also at Hopkins he completed a Fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery and served on the Faculty as an instructor.
Dr. Luzzi attended medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Duke University where he received a degree in Chemistry. He has served as Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, for many years he was a Clinical Instructor for the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and has been the Head of the Ear, Nose and Throat Division for nearly two decades at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Currently he is the Director of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery for Hartford Healthcare at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
Dr. Luzzi has served as president of the Litchfield County Medical Society, and for the past 10 years has served as a Board Member of the Connecticut State Medical Society IPA. For six years he was president of the Northwest Connecticut IPA. In addition to providing a wide range of services for Allergy patients, Dr. Luzzi offers adult and pediatric care for ear infections and hearing loss, sleep apnea and snoring, sinus disorders including endoscopic sinus surgery and treatment of tonsil and thyroid abnormalities. He treats tumors of the mouth, voice box, salivary glands, cancers of the skin, and head and neck tumors.

Dr. Ari Namon is double board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He graduated with honors from Brandeis University in Waltham, MA, before receiving his medical degree with honors from Rutgers Medical School in Piscataway, NJ. After a general surgery internship at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, he completed an Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency at the University of Chicago Hospitals and subsequently a fellowship in Head and Neck Reconstruction at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, IL.
Before joining Hartford Medical Group, Dr. Namon was the Director of Head and Neck Surgery at Caremount Medical in Poughkeepsie, NY, and performed facial plastic surgery for Sono Bello in Manhattan, NY. Prior to that he was in private practice in Sharon, CT, for 20 years where he served as Chief Medical Officer, Chief of Surgery, and as a member of the Board of Directors of Sharon Hospital. Dr. Namon has also held faculty positions at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, IL and in the Department of Otolaryngology at Yale University. Currently Dr. Namon is the Director of Head, Neck and Facial Plastic Surgery at the Hartford HealthCare Medical Group.
Dr. Namon has performed over 1,000 sinus surgeries and balloon sinus procedures and uses computer navigation for accuracy and safety on all sinus procedures. Dr. Namon also performs chemical cauterization, a painless office procedure for non-allergic rhinitis and is the only Otolaryngologist trained to do so in the state of CT. He offers treatment for all adult and pediatric ear, nose and throat disorders. His advanced training in head and neck cancer as well as double board certifications allow him to offer specialized care for nasal and sinus disease, head and neck tumors, skin cancer removal and reconstruction, and cosmetic facial surgery including rhinoplasty, facelifts, and eye lift procedures.
